Golden Gate Bridge 75th Anniversary Fireworks San Francisco Bay Area - Niall David Photography-4553

Happy 75th Anniversary Golden Gate Bridge! Fireworks Over the San Francisco Bay!

Sunday May 27, 2012 marked the 75th Anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge. In celebration of this American icon, there was a whole day of celebration at key sites along the waterfront along the San Francisco Bay and plenty of revelry around the city. The most exciting of which, were the 75th anniversary fireworks show! It was super special as they organizers added a special dose of a fantastic light show to go along with the fireworks. We had a key vantage point from the top of Nob Hill, and of course my camera, tripod and I happily joined in the celebration. Here’s my ode to this amazing icon of San Francisco, America and human ingenuity! Happy Anniversary GGB!

Santa Monica Pier and Pacific Park Amusement Park | HDR Images

Spent a little time on the Santa Monica Pier while visiting some friends in Culver City in Los Angeles this summer. I love this pier because not only is a classic boardwalk with a great history, but it’s got the fantastic family amusement park, Pacific Park, right on the pier. Since we hit the place in broad summertime 12-noon sunlight I decided to make 3-7 captures 1-stop apart for each photo I wanted to make as we wandered the pier. There’s so much character in the buildings, structures, art, and people on the pier, it’s hard not to want to photograph…

Whitney Nichole Performs for Google at the Googleplex in Mountain View, CA

folder_openMusic Photography, Niall David Photography Blog
One of those really cool experiences you don’t often get to enjoy – spending the evening at the headquarters of Google. Whitney Nichole performed with Abigail Picache and Kevin White at the Friday afternoon social last week, and it was a treat to join in on the experience. Everything at Google is really sweet. The campus (affectionately known as the Googleplex) is beautifully situated in Mountain View, CA and it’s all it’s cracked up to be. The employees are treated to a wonderful work environment all day every day, and once a month a Friday afternoon mixer and concert! Great…

Zack Arias One Light Workshop Comes to San Francisco!

This past weekend I was honored to host as the City Representative for Zack Arias‘ One Light Workshop here in San Francisco. Repping meant organizing and booking the studio, models, food, catering, supplies and other logistics. Though I understand more now why good planners are well paid for taking care of business, it was more than worth the adventure to become part of the experience at this incredible workshop. If you know anything about me, you know that Zack is one of my icons of photography, so you know I was living on cloud 9 all weekend. He is a…

Industrial Urban Decay | San Francisco – Central Waterfront, Dogpatch, Bayview, Hunter’s Point

A few images from a recent jaunt and scouting trip in San Francisco’s Central Waterfront, Dogpatch, Bayview, and Hunter’s Point neighborhoods. I love the industrial feel of these places and definitely expect to use every little nook and cranny at some point for some really cool gritty photoshoot locations. Broken down rusty truck trailers, decommissioned factories, rotting buildings and shipyards abound. It’s a treat for the urban/industrial decay connoisseur.   See the full gallery here.

San Francisco Skyline – Nighttime Views from Treasure Island

I don’t often go to Treasure Island, but today I just wanted to get out for a drive, and it seemed like the place to visit. A short jaunt from San Francisco, and dramatically placed right in the middle of the San Francisco Bay is the site of one of the most awe inspiring views of the city in the entire area. Second to only the Berkeley hills, this can’t be beat. Plus, if you’re already in SF, you can get there and back sans toll. I highly recommend this trip, worth it’s weight in unforgettable scenery of the City…

This not only means always being surrounded by a beautiful voice and amazing music, but being able to take part in documenting really cool things like the first day of pre-production on her debut album. It’s moments like this that remind me why I…

Road Trip – February 2010

folder_openLandscape Photography, Niall David Photography Blog
It’s a joy to road trip. Reminds me of college days, when things were carefree, and you could just take off for a weekend, or a week for that matter, and just explore. We were driving down the 5 when overhead there was a formation of birds… then there was another, and another. “Man that’s a lot of birds!” we exclaimed… And they just kept coming and coming and coming. Lucky for me we had a sunroof, and I wasn’t driving at the time. And with 1000’s of migrating birds taking to the skies above us, I had just enough…
