Fort Point Golden Gate Bridge Fog

A Foggy Evening at Fort Point and the Golden Gate Bridge | HDR Images

On a lonely foggy eve, I stumbled into Fort Point National Historic Site and the archway truss of the Golden Gate Bridge. From Fort Point you get an original view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco Bay. It’s pretty unreal down there, and very easy to get to. I wish the building at the point was open, and it’d be cool to wander closer to the bridge, but it’s gated off pretty well (the first shot here is actually taken with the camera lens poking through the hole in the fence). I’ve seen some photogs get…

Whitney Nichole Performs for Google at the Googleplex in Mountain View, CA

folder_openMusic Photography, Niall David Photography Blog
One of those really cool experiences you don’t often get to enjoy – spending the evening at the headquarters of Google. Whitney Nichole performed with Abigail Picache and Kevin White at the Friday afternoon social last week, and it was a treat to join in on the experience. Everything at Google is really sweet. The campus (affectionately known as the Googleplex) is beautifully situated in Mountain View, CA and it’s all it’s cracked up to be. The employees are treated to a wonderful work environment all day every day, and once a month a Friday afternoon mixer and concert! Great…

Zack Arias One Light Workshop Comes to San Francisco!

This past weekend I was honored to host as the City Representative for Zack Arias‘ One Light Workshop here in San Francisco. Repping meant organizing and booking the studio, models, food, catering, supplies and other logistics. Though I understand more now why good planners are well paid for taking care of business, it was more than worth the adventure to become part of the experience at this incredible workshop. If you know anything about me, you know that Zack is one of my icons of photography, so you know I was living on cloud 9 all weekend. He is a…

Ireland – Winter 2011

This past February, I traveled to Ireland with my mom. We visited 14 counties, had countless wonderful experiences, and sadly said goodbye to grandma. The winter trip to the Emerald Isle was filled with many emotions, from elated excitement of exploration to eyes bawling sadness. At the end of the two and a half-week adventure, I came home with countless amazing memories of a great road trip with my mom the likes I haven’t seen since I was 12; a trip I’ll never forget and always cherish. Traveling to Ireland was always special to our family. When my brother and…

Industrial Urban Decay | San Francisco – Central Waterfront, Dogpatch, Bayview, Hunter’s Point

A few images from a recent jaunt and scouting trip in San Francisco’s Central Waterfront, Dogpatch, Bayview, and Hunter’s Point neighborhoods. I love the industrial feel of these places and definitely expect to use every little nook and cranny at some point for some really cool gritty photoshoot locations. Broken down rusty truck trailers, decommissioned factories, rotting buildings and shipyards abound. It’s a treat for the urban/industrial decay connoisseur.   See the full gallery here.

Time Lapse Photography of Foggy San Francisco Bay from the Top of Nob Hill

Click the play button above to watch embedded video, or for an high res experience, follow this link to watch the 16:9 HD version on Vimeo. 1400 images over 5 hours, 10 seconds apart, compressed to a minute and a half 🙂 I decided to play a role in this one, alongside a glass of our favorite Husch Sauvignon Blanc and a Rolling Stone magazine. It was WINDY & COLD up there, and a misty drizzly rain started falling when I decided to leave my post, as evidenced by the mist on the lens filter in the video about mid-way…

Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay Sunrise & Sunset Panoramic Photography

I’ve been seemingly obsessed with creating Panoramic images over the past year or so. I tried it out a couple of years ago, and to be honest I kinda sucked at it. Exposure was all off, and even the wonders of Photomerge in Photoshop couldn’t properly align and setup my images : ( Practice makes perfect, and though I’m far from that accolade, I have taken mentorship from a few pro photographers I admire as well as multiple attempts at it to heart, and I typically don’t make an image of a landscape these days without trying my hand at…

The 365 Project – A Retrospective

Originally posted on: nialldavid.wordpress.com/ This is me. This is me on top of a melting piece of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier at the mouth of the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon in Iceland. It’s probably one of the most incredible, jaw-dropping places I have ever been in my entire life. On a whirlwind trip around Iceland a few summer’s ago, I only got to spend only a few hours here, but it was an experience I will never forget. Right before I headed back to the car, I hopped up on what for all I knew was a piece of compressed glacial ice…
