I’m excited to announce that Leslie Bahr of Whitetail Wine Bar in Guerneville, CA has invited me to show 11 pieces of my landscape photography in her lovely gallery. It’s a fantastic opportunity that I’m elated over as Russian River wine country  is just entering into the high season and I can’t wait to show my work in print to everyone starting this week and continuing throughout the month of May!

I’ve made ten 16″x24″ fine art prints mounted in archival museum gallery mats and one special 10″x40″ panorama I’m debuting at this show. The photographs range from images made through the window of our apartment in San Francisco overlooking the San Francisco Bay, to my travels throughout the United States, Europe, Iceland and New Zealand.

Of course I trusted none other than my friends at the never less than top notch professional photo lab, PhotoworksSF, to fabricate these prints and mats for me. I stopped by the lab for the pre-matting preview of the prints yesterday and I have never been more excited to see my images on paper.

It all kicks off with a lively First Friday event with guitarist Chris Samler, tasty wines being poured from Whitetail’s owner and proprietor, Leslie Bahr, and of course I’ll be there smiling away as we finish hanging my work and getting everything squared away for this month’s show.

Meet the Jimenez Family!

We all had a totally awesome time on this shoot – the family’s energy was great together and it wholeheartedly carried high energy throughout the time we spent together. Everyone laughed and one of us even cried… Don’t worry, Mom and Dad were quick to the rescue All of the photos made on this shoot were very editorial and it totally felt like we were shooting a GAP, JCREW, or Apple iPhone ad. In the end we all really felt like these look like they should end up in a magazine!

Check out Dirty Cello… a jazz, funk, blues and modern music driven band based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. I guarantee you’ve never heard anything like them, ever before. Not only do these guys gig their butts off when you see them live, but they are out there multiple times a week sharing their original brand of music with the world.

The group is lead by cellist Rebecca Roudman, who has shared the stage with countless acts, symphonies, and artists from across the globe. Jason Eckl joins her on guitar and they often bring in a host of talented Bay Area musicians to back them on bass, drums, brass, woodwinds, and vocals.

From their website: “Dirty Cello presents unique and dynamic music that mixes virtuosic classical playing with the soul of blues, the fire of gypsy music and the beauty of modern folk music. Think B.B. King meets Mark O’Connor meets Yo-Yo Ma.”

Couldn’t have said it better myself. These guys rock!

Our shoot was a nice mix of standard images for the discerning fan, and a little gettin’ gritty for the rock the house fan. All in all it was a blast to setup the seamless and rock out at the shoot!

Two years ago today, after a lifetime of keeping too many things printed in boxes and only digitally on hard drives, I launched my first photography website http://nialldavid.com to begin sharing my images with the world. At the time it was a basic flash based portfolio and a little about me. I really had no idea what I was doing with it, or where it would take me… Now, years later after 1000′s of new learning experiences behind me and millions more ahead of me, I have truly discovered that the sky is the limit.

Today I’m officially releasing newly branded logos (designed by Alex Azcona - visible across this site, my Facebook page and other materials) and a redesigned version of the website that was launched last year. Please take a visit, browse my latest work, poke through the image portfolios, catch up on the blog, or get lost in the image archive. I’m grateful for everyone I have collaborated with over the past few years, and thank you all for your continued support. My life through the lens has and continues to be one great adventure

Last August I had to pleasure to photograph Akosua for images for her upcoming EP. The CD has gone into production and is soon to be released, and so are some of the photos from the shoot!

It was a pleasure photographing this talented artist in such a beautiful setting as Joaquin Mill Park in Oakland, CA. I never even knew this place was there until Akosua suggested it for a location for our shoot, and it’s definitely a place I would return to either for an afternoon of photographing or simply just relaxing in the trees or by the fountain. Best of luck in the release of the EP Akosua!
